چکیده

Rice moth Corcyra cephalonica (Stainton) is a serious pest on storage commodities. The management of C. relies the use chemical pesticides. Insecticide resistance and its effect nontarget demand for compounds that are clean, green. Essential oils (EOs) viz., Trachyspermum ammi (Ajowan), Piper betle (betel), Eucalyptus citriodora (citridora), Cymbopogan nardus (citronella), Pelargonium graveolens (geranium), Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) Ocimum basilicum (sweet basil) were investigated their cidal activities against egg adult stages cephalonica. On ovicidal action, among EOs tested P. was found to have higher action eggs (EC50 3.79 mg/ dm3), followed by T. EO 4.17 dm3). caused highest fumigant toxicity in adults with lowest LC50 values (12.58 18.01 All an antennal response C.cephalonica female adults. Among Eos, R. elicited moths (1.3 mV 0.84 mV). In behavioural assay, showed reduced preference oviposition substrate treated EOs. desirable cidal, physiological makes them viable alternative synthetic

Rapid response of rice plants to arsenite toxicity

Absorption of arsenic (As) by plant root is an essential activity that bridges the soil As concentration and physiological responses which can be monitored soon after exposure to As. In the present study, physiological responses to short exposure to arsenite (AsIII) was compared in two indigenous rice cultivars one adapted to temperate and humid (TH) and the second one to warm and humid (WH) cl...

Essential oils: renewal of interest and toxicity.

Essential oils are complex mixtures of substances from vegetable matter, the definition of which is based on their method of extraction. They are characterized by their ambivalence, their ambiguity and their disparity: plant families from which essential oils are extracted are numerous; the composition of each essential oil depends not only on the family but also on the part of the plant from w...

Subterranean termite infestations occur in every state in the contiguous United States and are responsible for damage to wooden structures in excess of two billion dollars (U.S.) annually. Essential oils have historically been used to repel insects. They have relatively low toxicity and some of them are exempt from regulation by the Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). Dev...
